The Rubber Plant rubber plant ficus Elasticais rewarding to grow and beautiful when mature. As it thrives in areas with full sun to partial shade, it will suit any room in the house, wherever you want to add a dash of the exotic. When growing the Rubber Plant indoors, avoid drafts near large windows or doors.

It is native to Asia and in the wild can grow up to 60 metres tall with a trunk that can be 2 metres thick! It wont do this in your home though, its ultimate height will be more like 2 metres in the right conditions.

Our top tip is to train your Ficus tree to be tall and leggy: its unusual shape is beautiful and casts wonderful shadows in summer. The best advice we can give is to neglect your Ficus tree a little – it will grow stronger if you only water it once the top layers of soil are dry: the worst thing you can do is to overwater – as is the case for most of our tropical houseplants.
